I haven’t posted in a while, I know! I’ve been busy lately. I’ve gone through some life changes lately. I left my job and recently dipped my toes into the job market. It is a grueling process and very emotionally draining. I kind of put my life on hold for it, I didn’t spend as much time with my usual hobbies like photography. The garden in my front yard was getting neglected.

But things are wrapping up now, and I have a few fun trips planned that I’m excited for! Hopefully I’ll take some nice pictures and be able to share them here soon.

The nice thing about summer and the weather warming up is that it’s always pleasant to go out for walks now. I don’t take my camera out with me walking as much as I used to, but I still managed to snap a few pictures that I’m proud of.

The pictures on the left was taken near X’s office. There’s a really nice walking trail he showed me nearby that some people take when having 1:1 meetings. I’ve been fully remote since COVID so I’m jealous of being able to chat and walk with people outside during work.

In my mind I feel like my life has been a blur lately of working/studying at home and occasionally going out to see friends or run errands. But when I look at some pictures I took I realize I’ve had quite a few fun little adventures since I last came back from Korea.

I went to Victoria, BC. It’s a really cute place and I briefly entertained the idea about retiring there but X pointed out that there’s no nearby airports, which makes traveling in and out of the area a PITA. Darn. Why can’t we have all the things we want in life?

I went on a hike and at the viewpoint when I was posing for a picture someone’s dog just came up and said hello to me.

To get to Victoria we took a ferry from Seattle. At one point during the ride the captain slowed down the ship and announced that he spotted orcas on the left hand side. I have a very vivid memory of everyone in my line of sight (including me) immediately standing up and hustling over to that side of the ship. It was my first time seeing orcas in PNW so I was grateful for the experience. Can you really say you live in the PNW if you haven’t seen the resident orcas during a casual outing? This also reminds me of recently going to an acquaintances house and spotting a bald eagle flying outside through their window.

Another thing I did was go to another Ferries on Film event, this time as a guest photographer! If you look hard enough you can probably find the instagram post about me, haha. I’m too shy to put it here. Here’s a few portraits of some folks I ran into there. I’ve gone to several of these events so far, and I love how I’m quickly beginning to recognize and get closer to a lot of the regulars there. I feel like I’m becoming part of the community, which I feel like is a rare thing these days, unfortuately.

I went to Napa Valley with some college friends. I’m glad that they invited me and shoutout to E who planned everything for the trip. It was a wonderful time to be able to spend time with people I haven’t seen in a while. Made me realize I haven’t had many opportunities to travel with friends (I mostly just travel with my partner) and I’d like to change that someday soon.

As the astute reader would know, a lot of my socializing revolves around food.

I’ve been bringing my camera to these kind of events lately but now I’m starting to question whether it’s worth it. It’s nice to take pictures of people but I’m starting to feel like I’m just becoming that person who always shoves a camera in someones face. Anyways, my photography habits seem to be slowly evolving over time, which is fine. Change is inevitable after all.

I’ll end it here with a few more slice of life pictures. As I’m putting them in I realized they are all pictures of X, my favorite victim of my portrait lens(es).
