I love coming to this city. One day after work on my trip I left the Manhattan office and walked around the park on a nice day, and there was so many people out. The energy and spirits of the streets was palpable. I love that you can walk outside and brush shoulders with so many diverse people.

I spent most of my time in south Brooklyn, since that’s where X’s family lives.

I went on a mini adventure to try and visit Columbia University. I took the subway all the way there (from south Brooklyn!!!). Turns out they closed their campus to outsiders due to the protests a while back. Why does it feel like everything is a death by a thousand cuts? Public instutitions and amenities, employers, rising costs, society at large… anyways didn’t mean to go on a tangent.

But it gave me a good opportunity to explore northern Manhattan which I haven’t ever been to before. I walked past the famous Seinfield restaurant and tried to take a picture but it came out all blurry, LOL. I must have fat fingered something here.

We took a nice walk around a park near Columbia which is where I took this portrait.

You can walk down the street of NYC and run into all sorts of interesting stores. A lot of them still have a mom/pop vibe.

I spent a week in NYC and got a chance to explore different parts of Brooklyn too.

This is my favorite picture I took on the trip! It reminds me of the works by Stephen Shore. You have the skyline of New York in the background, and the cars direct your eye to the running figure.

I went through several rolls of film on this trip. As you may have guessed, I’m solidly in my honeymoon phase of this city. I want to go back already!
