It’s been a tiring January. I messed up my sleep schedule over winter break and have been trying half heartedly to fix it.

He’s always mean mugging me.

I spend a lot of time at home, especially since I work fully remote. When I do go out, frequently it’s to take short walks around the neighborhood. I take the same routes over and over again. It makes it hard for me to judge if my pictures are good or not.

I find going outside to be a panacea of sorts. The sun is magnitudes of times greater than the brightest indoor lighting, even when it’s overcast (as it frequently is here). Going outside wakes me up and lets myself get closer to nature, which has healing qualities. Anyways, I’m probably preaching to the choir here…

Sometimes I wonder if it’s even worth bringing my camera on these walks, since I go the same route and see the same things. But I try not to fall into that mentality, instead reminding myself that everything is always in flux and there’s plenty of opportunity to capture all the variations.

Anyways, I hope everyone is having a nice new year! I’d love to hear about your new years resolutions if you have any. Mine is to keep consistently learning Chinese!
